TLD has been awarded the prestigious International Industry 4.0 award from the Global Smart Factory summit
An international jury of “Smart Factory Experts” have awarded TLD the International Industry 4.0 for Horizontal Integration in recognition of our latest industrial performance developments, especially in the domain of integration of our whole value chain. This prize has been awarded to our Shanghai, China and Wuxi, China factories, leading the whole group in those development.
The jury has focused his evaluation on our Production & Inspection Online system (PIO), which is managing a seamless information flow in 2 main directions: Vertically between customer, factory, and suppliers as well as horizontally between Engineering, Supply Chain, Planning, Production and Quality. The system is making available in real-time all the required data to the workshop, via tablets. It is pushing always up-to-date engineering and assembly information to the assembly team, as well as gathering from the operations all measurements and controls required to ensure a perfect assembly.
The PIO System offers to our customers an increased level quality control, the insurance of repeatable processes as well as an online access to the entire machine manufacturing history.
In total, 30 companies had signed up for the competition, 15 evaluations were examined in detail, and on-site visits were carried out to a short list of 6 companies, among which TLD has been selected.
The two factories during the jury’s inspection showed on several live samples the perfectly aligned, controlled and integrated process to manage customer’s expectations in terms of technical specifications, commercial terms and conditions and their online transfer from order intake to deliveries. From there direct links via TLD Vendor extranet are made to suppliers in order to understand demand and delivery requirements and anticipate future needs. Once a manufacturing order is released, the shop floor and all workers are guided by tablet computers, available to every employee, step-by-step through all sequences of production as well as material supply and quality checks.
A ceremony for the winning finalists will be held at the Global Smart Factory Summit 2017 taking place in Shanghai on October 17th during which both factories will receive their awards.
