Devtec

History of Devtec

Devtec Corp, now known as TLD America, was established in 1962 by Mr. Richard Stern and Mr. Yves Helleboid to distribute and service US Ground Support Equipment to airlines outside the US. The major product lines were equipment from Accessory Controls and Equipment Corp. (ACE). Later products from other manufacturers were added.

Devtec opened its first local office in Asia in 1978 with Mr. Allen Fu as the main salesman. Devtec Co. Ltd. was established in Hong Kong before expanding and opening offices in Singapore (1984) and Beijing (1989). When the China market opened and began its expansion, Devtec was well positioned to become a major supplier.

In order to strengthen its position in Asia, Devtec opened its first overseas manufacturing facility in Taiwan in 1990. This facility manufactured hydraulic lifting equipment based on Nordco designs, a company which was acquired by DEVTEC at that time. Products included passenger steps, mobile maintenance platforms, belt loaders and catering trucks.

In 1991 TLD acquired Devtec Corp, including its Asian operations. Devtec’s European operations were combined with TLD’s existing French companies: Tracma, Erma and Albret. Meanwhile Devtec’s network gave the TLD Group access to international markets outside of Europe. At the time, the TLD Group offered a complete line of GSE, further enhanced by TLD’s purchase of Lantis in the United States in 1992.

In 1997 it was decided that TLD Asia should more fully realise its potential on the China market. With the support of the entire TLD group, the new facility started manufacturing products designed by its sister companies. An additional factory was set up in Wuxi in 2008 to accommodate the growth of the Asian market.

Devtec Asia, renamed TLD Asia in 2002, is the pioneer of GSE supply in Asia Pacific, having supported its customers there for more than 35 years. Today, its ability to deliver quality products and services makes it the undisputed leader of GSE in Asia. Overseas sales offices and factories are located in Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Shanghai, Seoul, and Wuxi, makes it the undisputed leader of GSE in Asia.
