iBS

Sustainable ground support equipment (GSE), that not only benefits the environment but also offers attractive alternatives to more traditional equipment through increased longevity and component modularity, is becoming increasingly important for a growing number of airports as they adhere to ‘green’ government policies.

We recognised the wind of change some years ago and have worked hard to bring to market the next generation of GSE with a heavy emphasis on electric power plants, (including the ability to retrofit into older equipment), interchangeable components by utilising the very latest cutting-edge technology.

One new technology that is generating a significant amount of industry interest is their in-house developed Intelligent Battery System (TLD iBS) using the safest Lithium-ion technology. The TLD iBS concept is simple – each TLD iBS battery comprises of individual packs that can be combined like building blocks, to build larger batteries in 22 kWh increments.

These batteries can be assembled, and installed, into all TLD electric GSE making it a universal replacement to the older lead acid batteries currently in use. Size and dimensions of the packs were carefully defined to match the space and geometry of all existing battery compartments of current electric TLD GSE as a “drop in” solution. This highly flexible and versatile solution is managed by a state of the art battery management system (BMS) which monitors all cell voltages, temperatures, currents, and States of Charge to ensure swift power distribution.

iBS Modularity

iBS consists of 80 VDC packs that can be combined like building blocks, to build battery in 22 kWh increments (44, 66, 88 kWh or higher) Same iBS can be used across all TLD electric product lines Additional packs can be easily installed on-site when needed to increase capacity of the battery for higher duty requirements, allowing for optimization of the installed battery capacity. Size and dimensions of the packs were carefully defined to match the size and geometry of all existing battery compartment of TLD Electric GSE.

Battery Life Cycle Management

Unique iBS Life Cycle management to minimize total cost of ownership.

New iBS batteries shall be used on the most demanding applications. After a first life, and when iBS battery performance shows slight decrease, iBS battery shall be installed to a less demanding application. Oldest iBS batteries shall be used on light duty equipment, allowing for very low cost using fully amortized batteries.

This very innovative battery life cycle management allows to significantly decrease battery total cost of ownership by extending battery lifetime
